Hello All! Whether you know me personally or just through my emails, at some point in the last three years I have contacted you with news and updates about my film Children of Fire, the Movie. I am happy to announce that the film is 95% complete, all we have left to add is original score, color correction, and sound mixing. We have sojourned a long way, scrapping, begging, pawning off personal items, and borrowing to raise the $121k spent to date. Our final expenditures are about $20k and now more than ever we are in need of your help! Not because we have been accepted in three International Film Festivals, so far, and still awaiting decision from four others in the USA. Not because we have garnered a BEST DOCUMENTARY Nomination at the IFFSA [Film Festival]. Not because we have taken another step in getting this film to broadcast by agreeing, in principal, with an internationally known distribution company and PR Firm. These reasons are great; but I never sought to obtain personal glorification when I undertook this project. My goal is, and always has been, to help save LIVES. Yet the Children of South Africa and many other developing countries continue to be severely injured or continue to die because these fires keep occurring. I am contacting exactly 80 people with this email. The assistance of each of you could help 10,000! 80,000 Children in South Africa alone are victims of these township fires. As mentioned, loss of limbs, self esteem, and life are the result of a much preventable tragedy. Therefore I am asking your assistance in the amount of $10.00 [ten] US dollars to help with our post production cost. A deposit of $2000 is needed to begin post. SO basically $2000 is between my film and one step closer to the finish line. For three years I have dedicated my life and career to these children in order to share their lives with the world. So much so I consider them my own. They've trusted me with their story; not to exploit them. My job is to repay them by getting this film to the public to help those who have been affected and prevent further more. If you are not able or comfortable with a donation - perhaps you are in a position to put this film on the fast track to completion or broadcast. If you work in TV, know someone who does or the like; I welcome your help especially! Any donation can be made via snail mail [contact me for details] or through PayPal by clicking here. Children are dying! Attached are two of the latest victims of these fires. Helen Matondo is 13 years old, her cousin Sabelo (15) died at the scene. Jabulani Malungane was burned on his forehead, arms and left side. These fires happened September 5th and 6th 2009 respectively. 80 people Strong! Let's make a difference! -- Junius R.
